Legend has it that a long time ago, a warrior named Hermann settled down with his small army and founded 7 citadels and a new state named “Siebenburgen” the seven citadels (German for Transylvania). These were the ancestors of the famous Saxons (German population) who have been inhabiting Transylvania for over 800 years.
Most people know about their presence in the Southern part of the country (the region of Sibiu and Brasov), but an important German population used to inhabit the Northern part as well.
Join us for an interesting journey to the former German centers of Bistrita and Livezile, as well as the superb Romanesque church of Herina. A delicious lunch with Transylvanian specialties is included as well.
If, however, you are rather interested in the German population of the Southern part, we organise a trip there too!
