Today we will travel on the The Golden Trail of the Carpathian Mountains to Romania’s most controversial site: Rosia Montana. We will go underground and discover the Roman mines, that were still active until the 1990s and find out many legends. Then we will travel back to the real world to visit members of the local community who have opposed the large mining project in the past years. This was supposed to bring new jobs to the area, but would have had catastrophic consequences on the surroundings. Lunch with locally grown products, the visit of a wool production workshop, and meeting many interesting people are included.
